Garland was killed in a single vehicle traffic accident on a rain slick road.

Garland Braxton Todd, 71, of Cleveland, Tenn., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at Rhea Medical Center.
Mr. Todd was born on March 30, 1937, the son of the late Delbert and Vivian Todd. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dayton where he served as a usher for many years. He attended Carver High School and worked for the Rhea County Sheriff�s Department. Mr. Todd resided in California for many years before returning to Rhea County. He was well known in the community and was always willing to help out someone in need. He was truly loved by everyone and will be missed.
Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert F. and Vivian Braxton Todd; two sisters, Delphine Suthers and Marie Wilkerson; brother John F. Todd; son, Garland F. Todd, and devoted aunt, Ruby Todd Reed, who raised him after the passing of his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Maxie Todd of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters, A. Renee (Mark) Hichman and Karen (Barry) Nelson; three sons, Melvin Braxton Todd, Graham B. Todd and Jaques T. Todd; step-children, James McKissic and Denise McKissic; seven grandchildren and one great grandson; two sisters, Bennie (Kenneth) McDonald and Del Mar Sharp; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Clint Hill Woods Cemetery in Georgetown, Tenn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Coulter Garrison Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
