Betty Irene Johnson, 76, of Fairview, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Jan. 4, 2009) at the Fairmont General Hospital. She was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Fairmont, the daughter of the late Francis and Goldie Cowell Simmons.She is survived by Phillip L. Johnson Sr., her loving husband with whom she spent the last 59 years of her life.Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Noah's Ark Assembly of God Church at Fairview. She also enjoyed playing bingo and watching game shows.In addition to her husband, she is also survived by eight children, Carol S. Ashley, Fairview, Cheryl A. and husband Charles Flint Jr., Monongah, Kevin L. Johnson and wife Charlescina, The Colony, Texas, Richard L. Johnson and wife Lisa, Romney, Ronald H. Johnson and wife Christina, Fairmont, Phillip L. Johnson Jr. and wife Myra, Hutchinson, Robert L. Johnson, Anmore and Mary E. Perkins, Monongah; 17 grandchildren, Roger Merriman and wife Maika, Mary Rowe and husband Christopher, Mark Ashley and wife Melinda, Michael Ashley, Richie Parrish, Celina Johnson, Kevin Johnson Jr., Sean Flint, Shaye Flint, Hope Johnson, Samantha Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Phillip Johnson III, Isabella Johnson, Jenna Johnson, Zachary Perkins and Matthew Perkins; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan and Camryn Rowe, Amber, Ashley and Isaac Merriman, three step-grandchildren, Christian Flint and wife Candace, Joshua Flint and Angela Jolinas and husband Manny; and four step great grandchildren, Cody, Trenton, and Kaitlyn Flint, and Isabel Salinas; and two sisters and one brother, Sally Christy, Vero Beach, Fla., Barbara Smith of Kingwood and Fred West, and wife Diane.Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-9 p.m. today where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Delas Stuzen officiating.
