David was born to the late Frank and Sarah Haire.

He was educated in the Cumberland County School system. He also served in the United States Army. In addition, he was self-employed.

He was also a lifelong participant at Friendship Missionary baptist Church, which he joined about five years ago. He attended and enjoyed attending Sunday School and Wednesday Night Bible Study. In addition, he traveled with the pastor on speaking engagements. He loved to be in service and to hear the Word.

"Dude", as he was called, was loved by all in the community. He was well loved by his friends and family. He had a humble disposition and a quiet spirit. He will be cherished forever by both his family and church family.

He is survived by one daughter, one brother, three sisters, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.

FAYETTEVILLE - David Lee Haire, 74, of 610 Monagan St., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009. Services: Funeral, noon Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church. Burial in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Visitation, 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the church. Survived by: Daughter, Aretta Forrest; brother, Walter; sisters Lula Teasley, Sarah McMillian and Mary McDonald; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
