Cecyle R. Toftness, 86, of Eau Claire died Dec. 23 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. Funeral services were Monday morning at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with the Rev. Rolf Nestingen officiating. Spring interment is in Our Savior's Cemetery in Campia.

Mrs. Toftness was born Jan. 7, 1922 to Ray and Edith (Hamlin) Temple in Hill City, Minn. She grew up on a farm near Hill City and graduated from high school in 1941. She moved to the Twin Cities and worked as a seamstress at Jeanette Frocks and Kohn Originals. She married LaMonte Toftness on Oct. 15, 1949 in Minneapolis. She was a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, Bible studies, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, dominoes and jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Monte; three daughters, Nancy Fox, Darlene Prissel and Gwen Stovall; three sons, Paul, Rob, and Richard; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Janice Temple and Marilyn Anderson.
Cecyle R. Toftness, 86, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Hill City, Minn., the daughter of Ray and Edith (Hamlin) Temple. Her childhood was spent on a farm near Hill City, where she graduated from high school in 1941. She moved to the Twin Cities and worked as a seamstress at Jeanette Frocks and Kohn Originals. Cecyle married LaMonte Toftness on Oct. 15, 1949 at Wesley Methodist Church in Minneapolis. A stay-at-home Mom, she and Monte raised six children. They have been in their current Eau Claire home since 1963. Cecyle was active at Grace Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, worked with the youth, participated in the Tuesday morning prayer group and attended Bible study. Cecyle also led a monthly Bible study at the Syverson Lutheran Home. Cecyle was active in Friendship Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and being there when they came home. Cecyle loved crossword puzzles, dominoes and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Monte; her children, Paul (Ann), Nancy Fox, Darlene (Richard) Prissel, Gwen Stovall, Rob (Deb) and Richard (Eva); 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Mary) Temple; two sisters, Janice Temple and Marilyn (Richard) Anderson; and 16 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Spring interment will be at Our Saviors's Cemetery in Campia.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, Highway 12 East in Altoona, and on Monday one hour before services at the church.
