I had the GREAT privilege of working with Eula for two years. We stayed in touch over the years and continued to have some wonderful times. Eula was a very intelligent woman, she gave me some invaluable advice that I use to this day. She was a very talented artist, selling her paintings at area craft shows. The world is a little colder without her.
Found Eula's parents on the 1920 Census; also found her father with her paternal grandparents, Philip D Spohn and Frankie L (Dikeman) Spohn on the 1900 and 1910 Censuses all in Hayes Township, McPherson, Kansas. Philip's parents are Andrew Spohn (d.1860) and Sarah (Mumma) Spohn (1831-1899), who married (second) Andrew Strauss.

Eula Marie Spohn, 77, Marquette, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Riverview Estates, Marquette, where she recently became a resident. Eula was born January 8, 1924 at McPherson, Kansas, daughter of Ralph and Nellie (Borders) Spohn. She was a retired registered nurse and a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She also had a degree in social work. She moved to Marquette fifteen years ago coming from Kansas City, Kansas. She was a talented artist who enjoyed painting, tole painting, and wood carving. She loved circus clowns and enjoyed calliope music of which she was a collector. Memberships include Elim Lutheran Church, National Tole Painting Association, the Marquette Wood Carvers, and Marquette Town and Country Club.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a brother, Leo Spohn.
Survivors include one sister, Ebba Nelson, Marquette; one sister-in-law, Helen Spohn, Marquette; nine nephews, Lawrence (Saundra) Spohn, Barry (Carylee) Nelson, Morris (Gayle) Nelson, Linn (Lou) Nelson, all of Marquette; Ross (Effie) Spohn, Scott City; Cary (Pauline) Spohn, Liberal; Raymond Spohn, Daytona, Florida; Doyle (Pat) Spohn, Holton; Kale (Kelly) Nelson, Fort Scott; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 6, 2001, in the Elim Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Cross officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Eula Spohn Memorial Fund. Olson's Funeral Home, Marquette, was in charge of the arrangements.
