C K Alexander Dies at Wiggins
Funeral services for Charles Kavanaugh Alexander, 83, retired insurance salesman, who had resided in Houston practically all of his life, were conducted from the Houston Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Mr. Alexander died at The Stone County Hospital at Wiggins, Friday, March 13, after an illness of 36 days. He and Mrs. Alexander had moved to Wiggins to be near their son, A J Alexander.
The Rev. Gene Russell, pastor of the Houston Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Houston Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.
Active pallbearers were: Ruben Byars, Charles Henry Alexander, Harold Craig, Harold Jones, Dr. D C Bouchillon, and Arnold Simpson. Honorary pallbearers were: H B Abernethy, A B Crawford, Fred Dulaney, James Dulaney, B C Hill, Therman Lowe, Bertram Moore, D L Pettigrew, Turner Ray, Bates Tabb, J H Tabb, E F White, Ben Woods, and the late Rufus Woody.

Mr. Alexander, more familiarly known as" Mr. Charlie", was born Feb. 18 1881, in Chickasaw County, the son of the late David Henry Alexander, and Eustracia Spruill Alexander. He was a member of the Houston Methodist Church.
He was a former member of the Houston Exchange Club, and at one time served on the Municipal Democratic Executive Committee. He was a former member of the Houston Board of Aldermen and for 12 to 15 years, during the time he was an alderman, he also served as city clerk. For a number of years he traveled, selling groceries for a wholesale firm.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Johnson Alexander, member of the Houston School faculty for many years; a daughter, Miss Virginia Alexander of Lansing, Mich.; a son, A J Alexander of Wiggins; a brother, J P Alexander of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. J L Cochran and Mrs. Daisy Howell, both of Jackson, and five grandchildren.
