Agnes D. Ruth, 106, passed away Thursday at St. Camillus Health Center. Agnes was born in Groveland, NY, May 19, 1902, the daughter of John R. Parker and Abbie (Coats) Parker. She was a decedent of early Elmira settlers, the Heller and Coats families. Agnes was employed as a telephone operator during and after WW I and was also a part-time sales lady for 37 years at Rosenbaum's Department Store. She was an avid bridge player and will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of fashion. She was the widow of Donald H. Ruth. She is survived by daughter, Shirley Ann (Ruth) Bowen, and son-in-law, James H. Bowen of Syracuse; grandchild, Lucinda Bowen of Oswego; a niece, Chris (Emerich) Penniman of CT; two nephews, Scott Emerich of NY and Brian Emerich of the Virgin Islands. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Elmira, NY. There will be no calling hours. A spring burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery of Elmira. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Camillus for all the kindness and care shown Agnes during her residency.
