Henry was the son of James and Christiana Morrison Porteous. He attended school in Norfolk, St. Lawrence County, New York. He moved to Camas, Washington circa 1919 and was a retired paper mill employee. He was survived by two sisters Mrs. Julia Crawford, Massena, New York and Mrs. Ada Thurgood, of Bombay, Franklin County, New York.
