Leon Ray Able, 86, (b. 14 Dec 1914) of Hortense died Sunday (1 Apr 2001) at the local hospital (Brunswick, GA).

The funeral was at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, on Post Road, with the Revs. Clayton Edgy and Rayford Blue, Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Able Cemetery in the Popwellville Community.

Pallbearers were George Strickland, Charlie Strickland, Ronnie Gibson, Terry Lane, Tommy Edgy and Jim Lewandowski.

Surviving are six daughters, Linnie Fountain of Hortense, Nina Herrin of Apopka, FL, Jody Edgy and Louise Bailey, both of Waynesville, Janice Henke and Julie Pangle, both of Pensacola, FL; three sons, Leon Able of Hoboken, Davey Able of Hortense, and Greg Able of Waycross; one sister, Jewel Able of Pensacola; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Able was a native of Gant, AL. He was in the Navy and a retired boilermaker with Local No. 26, Savannah Division. He attended the Trinity Church of the Nazarene.

He was the son of the late Asel Derry Able and Ula Roberta Gant and was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lou Nolan Able
