Anna Mary (Schieber) Shoup, daughter of John Jacob and Eve Margretha (Fink) Schieber, was born July 20, 1856, in Wurtemburg, Germany. When six years of age, she came to America with her parents, who settled near Edgerton, Ohio where she grew to womanhood.
On October 28, 1877, she was married to Jacob Shoup and to this union were born four children, Anna, Emma, Rosena, and Harvey. Emma and Anna preceded her in death.
In early life she became a Christian, and throughout her entire life was devoted to her church. For the past 30 years she was a regular attendant of the Methodist Church of Angola, of which she was a devout member.
Mother Shoup was of a quiet disposition, always true to her convictions and faithful to her many loved ones and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother, devoting her life for her children and grandchildren.
She was the last of her family of three brothers and one sister. Of her immediate family she leaves one daughter, Mrs. John Greenamyer, who lovingly cared for her during her last illness and one son, Harvey E. Shoup, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Angola, Rev. John W. Borders officiating and burial was in the Malcomb Cemetery.
