Robert F. Caristi, Sr., 82, of Seminole, AL, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009.
Born on September 18, 1926 in Boston, MA, he had lived in Pensacola from November 1944 through 1993 when he married Myrtle Hayes on April 17, 1993. They were married for 16 years where he lived in her home in Seminole, AL.
Robert was also known as "Bob" the "Candy Man". He was in the U. S. Navy during World War II and worked at the U. S. Naval Air Station Government Civil Service for 42 years. Bob volunteered at the Navy Hospital; two years for the Red Cross and also volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital in the Recovery Room for eight and a half years and at the Pensacola City Police Station for a year. He passed out candy for twenty-eight years since he quit smoking.
Preceded in death are two wives, Gladys and Virginia.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Myrtle P. Caristi; two daughters and a son, Winona Smyth, Darlene Larner and Robert F. Caristi, Jr.; three stepsons Willis, Elmer and Michael; stepdaughter Delrene; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 until services begin at 11:00 a.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
Officiating clergy are Pastor John Childers and Reverend Randall Isbell. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
