Kenneth Armel was the son of Chester ARMEL and Hester JONES. He was the brother of Clyde Stephen Armel.

Kenneth graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1937, worked in the print shop at Commercial Publishing Company in Indianapolis for five years, and then joined the U.S. Navy on Dec. 11, 1941, as a Printer 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was assigned to the new construction of the battleship U.S.S. Massachusetts and was promoted to Printer 1st Class. He remained on the ship until the last six weeks of the war when he was transferred to the Navy's Photolithography school in Washington, D.C. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 15, 1945. He enrolled in the Carnegie Institute of Technology that same month.

While a student at Carnegie Institute, he married Mary Rachel LANCET on August 15, 1948, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He graduated in 1949 with a B.S. degree in printing administration. That same year, he began teaching graphic arts at Mishawaka High School, in Mishawaka, Indiana. Kenneth was awarded his his M.S. from Butler University in 1955. He retired from teaching 1984.

His wife Mary taught art at the same high school. They had two children: Mary Kay Armel, who died in 1961 when she was five years old, and a son who became a physician.

Kenneth worked with Boy Scout Troop 120 (Mishawaka, Indiana) for 27 years, and he taught Sunday school and friendship classes for many years at First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka.
