Eve Clements was born May 1, 1747 or 1749 and died Oct 7, 1791 at Blacksburg, Montgomery County, Virginia at the age of 42 or 44.

She married Philip Barger on Feb 4, 1765 in Augusta County, Virginia. Evidence is that he was the son of Casper Barger and Margaret --. Philip's second wife was Barbara May, whom he married on Mar 2, 1792. He was born Sep 1, 1741 and died Aug 3, 1803 at the age of 61.

A genealogical ledger written by Wesley Kenerly Helm (1822-1871), Eve's grandson, recorded:

"Eve Clemens was born May 1st 1747 maried to Philip Barger Febuary 4th 1765 deceased October 7th 1791 aged 44."

Alvan Lyell Barger, editor of The Barger Journal, wrote that Eve was a daughter of Kasper Clements. (Edwards Brothers, Inc., Ann Arbor, Michigan, 1939, p. 297) However, there is no other evidence that she was Kasper's daughter. The Daughters of the American Revolution application of Mary Elma Horner Roop, number 498748, shows the following for Casper Clement: "Born Augusta County, VA 30 Apr 1753, died Augusta County VA 25 May 1813. Married to Mary Caldwell on 16 Dec 1774. Mary was born Nov 1756, died 1809." If Eve was was born in 1747 or 1749, she couldn't have been a daughter of this Casper Clement, who was born four to six years later.

Eve was likely was the daughter of Christian Clemens who listed her in his will, written Feb 10, 1780, as the wife of "Phillip Berger." Christian also listed in his will his "Eldest son Gasper" who may be the Gasper listed in Alvan Barger's Barger Journal.
