FARMER KILLED BY FAST TRAIN

Wagon Is Struck at Crossing In Sumner, Ill.

SUMNER, Ill., Jan. 7 - - Daniel Sutton, age about 80 years, farmer, was killed almost instantly at 12:10 p.m. today when his wagon was struck by an eastbound B and O passenger train at a crossing here.

Sutton, who lived two miles south of here, had come to Sumner with his wife to do some shopping. Leaving Mrs. Sutton at a store, Mr. Sutton turned his horses around and started to drive across the tracks when the train bore down on him. The wagon was demolished but the team of horses escaped injury.

Sutton was a Civil War Veteran and was widely known in this county.
