Maypearl, Texas - Funeral services for Joe Franklin Smith, 56, an Ellis County employee for 30 years and driver of the county school bus for the last few years, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church here.

Smith, who was born July 8, 1899, in Georgia and came to Maypearl with his parents when he was 2, died Saturday in a Waxahachie hospital. He had been ill four years.

He belonged to the Maypearl Church of Christ.

The Rev. Bob Green and the Rev. W.M. Bartels will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Maypearl Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Henry Brigman, Lee Cornwell, Frank LeMoin, Engle Moore, J.A. Tuley and Farras Witten.

Smith is survived by his wife; a son, Bobby Joe Smith of Lancaster; his mother, Mrs. W.T. Smith of Maypearl; five brothers, Charley Smith of Maypearl, O.B. Smith and Abner Smith both of Irving, Osborne Smith of Midlothian and Henry Smith of Claud, and three sisters, Mrs. Clovis Goodman of Maypearl, Mrs. Verbie Allen of Fort Worth and Mrs. Jessie Underwood of Amarillo.
