Interment: 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in the Dietz Cemetery in Rossville, Ga., in the care of Lane Funeral Home, 833 Chickagauga Ave., Rossville, Ga., 706-866-5151. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
Margaret was born Nov. 1, 1918, to James Fredrick and Julia Elizabeth "Bessie" Dietz in Boynton, Ga. She was the daughter of a pioneering north Georgia family, who settled in Catoosa County, Ga., after purchasing land in 1839. She was a beautiful person, both outside and in, who inspired all who knew her. She married William "Bull" Durham on June 24, 1938. During their 45 years together, they enjoyed bowling, outdoor activities and amateur radio: Bull â?" W4HHU and Margaret â?" KB4QKW. Both were active members of the 6th Cavalry Association, U.S. Army. They loved playing cards with friends and always played to win. She loved to knit and crochet for others and many friends and family were blessed by having her beautiful work.
To Margaret, family did not mean just blood kin. Throughout her life she extended family status to many. The people she embraced felt as though they were one of her own. She will be missed dearly by all the people she touched.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Duong and Dr. Mewis in Fort Worth and Dr. Yu and Dr. DiPlacido in Huntsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Durham; her parents, Fred and Bessie Dietz; and six siblings.
Survivors: Daughters, Anne McVey of Fort Worth and Martha Jane Walls of Marietta, Ga.; son, William Monroe Durham and wife, Barbara Kolter Durham; granddaughters, Susan Forney Brown and husband, Corey Brown, and Elizabeth Forney McCarthy and husband, Robert McCarthy Sr.; grandson, John Robert Forney and wife, Laura Gullett Forney; and great-grandchildren, Ben and Marin McCarthy, Charlotte and Reagan Forney and Berk Brown.
