Eliza Jane Tucker was born 08 MAY 1849, Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of John Tucker and Margaret "Peggy" Paxton. Eliza's mother, Peggy, drowned in Potts Creek, Alleghany County, Virginia, 15 MAY 1881. Eliza had at least eight siblings: Henry Tucker, John Tucker, Andrew Tucker, Alexander Tucker, Elizabeth Tucker, Sophia Tucker, Berry Tucker and Victoria Tucker.

Eliza married Hugh Caldwell Wolfe in Alleghany County, Virginia. They had eleven children: John Henry Wolfe, Hugh Caldwell Wolfe, Victoria Wolfe, Mariah Jane Wolfe, Fannie Bell Wolfe, Jacob Ausborn "Jake" Wolfe, Stephen Wolfe, William Fenton Wolfe, Rosa Missouri Wolfe, Anna B. Wolfe and Charles Edward Wolfe.
