Jewell Hammons Lindeman was born March 10, 1905 in the Granite, Oklahoma Territory, daughter of William T. and Laura Ella Hammons.

She moved to the South Plains at the age of 10 and attended school in Lockney. She married Henry O. Lindeman on Nov. 27, 1927 in the Whitfield Community. She was a resident of Kress until 1976, when she moved to Lubbock to the Carillon Retirement Center. She retired from the Swisher County Hospital and Plainview Hospital after 25 years of service as a pediatric nurse. She was a member of the Oakwood Methodist Church in Lubbock.

Survivors include three daughters, Sally Phillips Van Gilder and husband, Bill, of Lubbock, Alvena Spain of Gulfport, Miss. and Rhoda Lindeman of Lakewood, Colo.; two sons, Homer Lindeman and wife, Frankie, of Friona and Fred Lindeman of Washington D.C.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two grandsons, and a great-grandson.
