Bertha M. Edgar Adams - Davis 1917 - 2009 Bertha Mae Edgar Adams - Davis passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Hallmark in Bakersfield, CA of natural causes. She was born on February 7, 1917 in Crumcreek, Oklahoma to Bishop Marvin Edgar and Ella Louise Pierce Edgar. Bertha grew up in Oklahoma, moved to Arkansas and eventually made her life in Bakersfield, CA. Bertha enjoyed dancing, going to Trout's and Rasmussen's in Bakersfield, meeting all her friends and dancing to her cousin, Red Simpson's music. She loved quilting, needlepoint, enjoyed traveling in her RV and fishing at Lake Isabella. Bertha is survived by her husband, Charles Robert Davis of Bakersfield; son, Edgar Selwyn Hayes, Lake Havasu City, AZ (wife, Mary Lou); daughter, Lois Adams (husband, Wiley) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Marie Hayes, Bakersfield (widow of Robert Hayes); half brother, Marvin Edgar, Oklahoma; half sister, Wanda Jean Onstott, Texas; 9 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Bertha will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Optimal Hospice.
