John G. Ashton.
John G. Ashton, 82 years old, died last evening at his home in Liberty Township, near Gossettsburg, of pneumonia, after a several illness of several days. The funeral is announced for tomorrow at the home at 1 o'clock, with Rev. O. H. Berry, of the Chesterton Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in the Robbins cemetery, near the old homestead.

Mr. Ashton was one of the pioneers of this part of the county. He came there from New York at the age of 19 years, and ever since had resided on the same piece of ground. He was never married. With one bachelor brother, Herbert, and two sisters, Hannah and Meletta, also unmarried, he had lived happily there. Another brother, Marion Ashton, is a well-to-do farmer near Liberty Center school, and a third sister still resides in the east.
