On April 20, 1984, the body of a newborn white male child was found by several children playing along the banks of the Seine River near the CNR mainline bridge in the vicinity of Notre Dame Street and Nadeau Avenue in St. Boniface.
The baby's body was found in a shallow grave near the waters edge and was partially exposed as a result of the spring run off. The baby was likely buried there in the late fall of 1983. It appears that the baby was a newborn and was birthed shortly before his death and burial on the river bank.
A white male in his early 20's was spotted in the area in the late summer or early fall of 1983 carrying an infant child, but he has never been identified. This child is an unknown, but authorities have named him Baby Innocence.
