Rev. Jesse B. Rye, 85, of Russellville, AR, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Russellville. The oldest son of Sidney and Molly Kendrick Rye, he was born May 22, 1917 in Mountainburg, Arkansas. He married Kiness Jolley, March 20, 1937 at the Mill Creek community. He was an ordained minister with the Arkansas District Council of the Assemblies of God since 1946. Brother Rye pastored several area Assembly of God churches including Damascus, South New Hope, Centerville, Midway and Liberty Grove. He was on staff for the past 30 years at First Assembly of God Church in Russellville. Jesse was the sanctuary sunday school class teacher and active in the Always Young fellowship. He was a member of the Pope County Farmers Association. His love for God and his love of people made him an inspiring man. He loved to garden, farm and build homes. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fay Rye and Ray Rye and a sister, Agnes Harbin.
Survivors include his wife, Kiness Jolley Rye, of Russellville; a daughter, LaDonna and Roger Woodall of Springdale; two sisters, Nina Collins of Conway, Shirley Lemley of Russellville; three brothers, James Rye of Russellville, Samuel Bus Rye of Russellville, A.C. Rye of Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10:00 Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the First Assembly of God officiated by Rev. Larry Moore and Mr. Jim Bob Humphrey. Burial will be at East Point at Russellville under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
