Tommy was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Lake View, having served as deacon and was former president of the Piney Grove Mens Brotherhood. He was a member of the Piney Grove Choir and served on various committees throughout the church. Tommy was a member of the Lake View Community Choir and member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church Mens Brotherhood. Tommy served his state and country as a sergeant in the S.C. Army National Guard for 21 years. He was an active member of the Retired Guardsman of S.C and he was active in the family support group of Mullins National Guard Headquarters. Tommy was president of the Southern Steel Motorcycle Club of Lake View, S.C. He was active with the annual fundraisers and benefits. He was a member and former president of the Lake View Lions Club.
