He married Regina Kuzmicki, Nov 19,1938. They had three children: Wayne L., Jeffrey D., and David E.Taylor. Irving was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. He became the first full time Fire Chief of Ashburnham, Mass. in 1974, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Ashburnham Fire Dep't from 1931 to 1980, during which time he held all ranks in the department. He was an emergency medical technician, a member of the Ashburnham Firefighters Association, a member of the Massachusetts, New England and International Fire Chief's Associations and a member of the Worcester West Forest Firewardens Association. Prior to his becoming chief, he was a cabinet worker for the former Heywood Wakefield Co. in Gardner for over 35 years.
Irving was a member of St. Anne's Church in South Ashburnham. He was a member of the Forever Young Club in Ashburnham, a member of the National and Gardner Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, chairman of the Ashburnham Council on Aging, a member of the Turnpike Rod & Gun Club in Ashburnham, He was the parade chairman for the 1965 Ashburnham Bicentennial and a member of the building committees for the construction of the J.R. Briggs School and the Veterans Memorial School in Ashburnham.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Regina; three sons, Wayne L. Taylor of Santa Ana, Calif., Jeffrey D. Taylor of Costa Mesa, Calif., and C.W.O. David E. Taylor of Governors Island, NY; a brother, Kent Taylor of Gardner; three sisters, Rachel Urban of Finksburg, Md., Winifred Zaleska of Ashburnham and Carole Sokolowski of Merrimack; eight grandhildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Lamoureux Funeral Home, with a Funeral Mass at 10:a.m. in St. Annes's Church in So. Ashburnham. Burial was in St Denis Cemetery, Ashburnhm, Tuesday, Oct 22.
