FULLMER IN-LAW, 59, DIES ON S.F. TRIP
San Francisco - LeRoy Holt, 59, 10520 S. 1700 West, South Jordan, Utah, father-in-law of ex-middleweight boxing champion Gene Fullmer, died early Wednesday in a San Francisco hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Holt, according to his daughter, Mrs. Gene (Dolores) Fullmer, was stricken during the second round of the world championship fight between Fullmer and Dick Tiger, Tuesday at Candlestick Park here.
MR. HOLT WAS taken to Franklin Hospital after the fight where he died a few hours later.
He had traveled with members of the family to San Francisco Tuesday for the fight. His wife and daughter were with him when he died.
HE WAS BORN May 18, 1903, at South Jordan, a son of Arthur and Catherine Beckstead Holt. He had resided in the Salt Lake Valley all of his life. He was employed as a blacksmith at the Arthur Mill of the Kennecott Copper Corp. for 36 years.
HE MARRIED Ansley Lenore Jensen, March 18, 1920, in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mr. Holt was a member of the South Jordan Lions Club.
SURVIVORS include his widow, a son, Gayle Holt, Granger, and two daughters, Mrs. Max (Joyce) Spratling, Deeth, Nev.; and Mrs. Gene (Dolores) Fullmer, West Jordan; also 10 grandchildren, and four brothers, William Ren, Magna; Matthew, Golden and Henry, and a sister, Marie, all of South Jordan.
FUNERAL services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the South Jordan Second LDS Ward Chapel, 10353 S. 1300 West. Friends may call at 8090 S. State Friday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the South Jordan Chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the South Jordan Cemetery.
