Bessie Nolan, 87
Bessie Nolan, Sherwood Park Manor, Brockville, died Jan. 1, 2003 at her residence. She was 87.

She was born Feb. 4, 1915 at Vankleek Hill, Ont., to William R. Waite and Mary Jane F. Younge. She married Donald Nolan Feb. 5, 1937 at Massena, N.Y.

Mrs. Nolan is survived by her daughter, Sherrill (Mrs. Bill Johnston), and son, Aurey Nolan (wife Sharon); grandchildren, Kelly (Mrs. Michael Vincent), Gordon Johnston (wife Linda), Sandy Johnston (wife Erin), and Scott Johnston; great grandchildren, Colin and Ryan Vincent, Shaelyn, Courtney, Taylor, Kiley, Lindsay and Julia Johnston, also several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Donald, and all of her sisters and brothers.

Church activities, embroidery, cooking and family gatherings were her main interests. She had been the owner/operator at a restaurant/gas bar (Nolan's Gas Bar) on Highway 2, east of Johnstown.

Visitation was at Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, Friday, Jan. 3, 2003. The funeral service followed in the chapel, with Rev. A. Schiebout officiating.

A committal service will take place at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. Cremation was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Jan. 3.
