COMPTON -- Nathan E. Compton of Lorane Route, Box 85, passed away June 21, 1971 at the age of 94. He was born March 30, 1877 at Earlham, Iowa and was united in marriage to Cora Craven on February 8, 1899 at Earlham. He first came to Cottage Grove in 1924. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survived by his wife, Cora; 2 daughters: Mrs. J. B. (Lois) Leonard of Cottage Grove and Neta Ashworth of Eugene; a brother and sister in Iowa; 2 grandchildren: Mrs. Carl Doering of Roseburg and John Leonard of Baker; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Smith-Lund Funeral Chapel. Reverend Melvin Dixon officiating. Private concluding services at Rest Haven crematorium. Those who wish may make donations to the Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Mr. Compton.
