ANNANDALE -- Dorothea M. Reid, 92, of the Annandale section of Clinton Township died Friday (April 15, 2005) at her home. She was born in Pattenburg on Aug. 13, 1912, a daughter of the late Harry O. and Margaret Gross McCrea, and lived in Clinton before moving to Annandale in 1934.
She worked as a clerk in the Annandale Post Office for many years and retired Aug, 2, 1978.
She was a past matron of Stewart Chapter No. 166, Order of the Eastern Star, High Bridge, where she was a member for 62 years, and was also a member of Hobart Chapter No. 63, Order of the Eastern Star, High Bridge. She also served as a past grand officer of the Eastern Star of New Jersey.
She was a charter president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Annandale Hose Company No. 1 and was a member of the High Bridge Reformed Church.
A very caring person, she was always ready to give assistance to anyone in their time of need.
Her husband, Walter S. (Bill) Reid, died in 2001.
She is survived by three sons, Bruce K. Reid and his wife, Joy, of Mesa, Ariz., Lawrence E. Reid and his wife, Ann, of Apopka, Fla., and David B. Reid of Annandale; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A sister, Margaret Taylor, and a brother, Paul McCrea, both died earlier.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the High Bridge Reformed Church, 23 Church St., High Bridge. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Lebanon. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Coughlin Funeral Home, 15 Academy St., Califon. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 8 p.m.
A gathering will be held at the church following the service at the cemetery.
