Born Ora Otis Robinson, he took his fathers name after the fathers untimely death in 1900. O.L was the son of Otis Leslie and Nancy Jane (Holman) Robinson.

He moved to Bent county between 1914 and 1920 from Gentry county Missouri where he had own a large farm. He owned 2 large ranches in Bent county, one being north of Las Animas and one near the cemetery, known as the North and South ranches respectively.

He married Miss Lottie E Bedford in King City Missouri in 1907 with whom he fathered 2 daughters and a son. After her death in 1936, he remarried Ruth E Robertson MacCallum the widow of David Irwin MacCallum in 1939.

O.L was the County Commissioner of Bent County in the 1940's and had a large livestock feed lot in the area. He was also a Mason
