Services for Mr. Woodie Dell Carter are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at Van United Methodist Church, with Rev. David Foster officiating and Rev. Jack Cox assisting.

Burial will be in Haven of Memories Cemetery, Canton, under the direction of Hilliard Funeral Home.

Mr. Carter passed away at the age of 88 on January 20, 2009 in Grand Saline.

Woodie Dell Carter was born September 22, 1920 in Canton, Texas to the late Leciel L. Carter and Willie Travis Mixon Carter. He has been a resident of Van since 1976, formerly living in Irving. Mr. Carter worked for Vault Aircraft in Grand Prairie as an Aircraft Inspector for 30 years. He was a member of the Van United Methodist Church and the DAV.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Kay Brock in 1973; three sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Louise Woodall Carter; special children, Barry & Jill Brock of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gary White, Danny White, Ron White, Kevin White, Tony Schutter and Herman Rohus.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the funeral home.
