William M. Adams was born September 13, 1878 in Christian County,Missouri to Daniel and Mary Moody Adams. He lived in Missouri until,as a young man, he moved with his mother and step-father, D.L.Bateman, to Pratt and Stafford Counties in Kansas. They farmed there until 1915, when Mr. Adams filed on a homestead in Baca County, Colo.
He married Alice E. Sutton August 14, 1917, and to this union four children were born: Matle, Sarah, Calvin, and Howard. He lived on the homestead until January 4, 1958, when he and his wife moved to Springfield. He passed away October 26, 1969, at the age of 91 years,one month and 13 days.
One son, Jesse Calvin Adams preceded him in death on November 4, 1955. Also one grandson, Bennie Jess Shepherd, on January 7, 1954.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alice, his children, Matle and Clarence Shepherd of Springfield, Sarah and Clarence McKinley of Walsh, and Howard and Georgia Adams of Upton, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Ollie Stammers of Woodbine, Kansas; one half-brother, Lonnie Bateman of Arizona; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
