REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERAN

Historical Association of South Jefferson, Revolutionary War Veterans of Southern Jefferson County, K-Z:
Laban Ross - b. 1765 Westerly, RI; m. Elizabeth __; d. 1843 Rodman, NY. He moved to Rodman, NY by 1810. Service - Rhode Island. No Pension.

WARNING: Laban's gravestone shows he d. aged 76, which would put his birth date at 1767 - quite young to have served in the Revolution (1775-1783). The Historical Association of South Jefferson shows he was born 1765, a more likely birth date.

WARNING: Laban's parentage is in dispute. Some say he was the son of Capt. John Ross (c. 1773, Killingly, CT-aft. 1780) and his wife Sarah (see Wikitree), others as the son of William Samuel (or just Samuel) Ross (1727-1803) and Martha Thornton. We have seen no evidence to confirm either of these. If anyone has evidence to prove the identity of Laban's parents one way or another, please contact us.

in 1711, there was a William Ross living in Westerly, RI. Could he be an ancestor or other relation of Laban Ross who was said to have been born in Westerly?
