Was in the Army Air Force in WWII. He was a gunner on a B 17 Bomber, and saw a lot of action. He went to work at American Airlines after the war and was a mechanic for them. He married Gladys Penn first, and after her death married Edith M Hooper.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - George H. Townsend, 78, a retired American Airlines mechanic, died Saturday at home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Baptist Church.
Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. tonight Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Home.
Mr. Townsend was born in Altus, Okla., and had lived in North Richland Hills for 50 years.
He retired from American after 36 years.
Survivors: Wife, Edith Townsend of North Richland Hills; three stepdaughters, Linda Hughes of North Richland Hills, Kathy Wolf of Watauga and Christi Jones of Midland; four brothers, Russell Townsend of Chickasha, Okla., Harvey Townsend of Cedar Creek, Charlie Townsend of Yukon, Okla., and Melton Townsend of Oklahoma; seven
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
