Winnsboro, La., Dec. 1. — (Special) — John W. Townsend, 81, resident of Chase, died at his residence at 3:17 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Chase Baptist church with the Rev. Enon Boyette, of Wisner, officiating.

Interment will be in the Chase Cemetery under the direction of the First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice T. Townsend, Chase, La.; three sons, Weston, Winnsboro, Sgt. Jessie Townsend, Shreveport, and Pvt. John W. Townsend, Jr., Montgomery, Ala.; one daughter, Mrs. Winnie Rodgers, Jiggers, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Westbrook and Mrs. Elvie Watson, both of Jena; and three half-brothers, Milliary Cureington, Winnsboro, Hollis Cureington, Jena, and Green Cureington, Trout.
