Dies in Car Crash
Valentine Kahler, 72, Killed in Accident Near Waverly
BRUNSWICK, Aug 8 (Monitor Index Special Service
Valentine Kahler, 72, well-known farmer north of Brunswick, was killed and four other persons were injured last night when the Chevrolet touring car in which they were riding was struck by another car on Highway 24 near Waverly,
In the car with Mr. Kahler were his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Kahler, and two boys named Tietjens. They were returning from a two weeks visit with relatives in Bartlesville, Okla., with Walinco Kahler driving.
According to occupants of the Kahler machine, the other car rounded a curve and approached them on the wrong side of the road. Mr. Kahler attempted to turn out but was unable to get out of the path of the other car. Names of occupants of the second car were not learned here.
Mr. Kahler died from a skull fracture caused from striking his head at the top of the windshield.
Mrs. Kahler sustained a deep gash in her forehead and the other three were bruised and shaken but not seriously hurt.
Mr. Kahler is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Masters, Mrs. Olga Neidholdt, Miss Vally Kahler, and Mrs. Will Manson, all of Brunswick; and six sons, Wallace, Walter, John, and Roberts all of Brunswick, and Gus and Ben of Bartlesville, Okla.
Funeral services will be held here tomorrow afternoon.
