George W. Derrington, Mayfield Messenger Thursday evening, October 31, 1901

This well-known and popular gentleman was born at Symsonia, Graves County,
Kentucky, September 5, 1851. He has been a citizen of the county all his life,
was educated in the common schools, been a true democrat and a faithful member
of the Methodist Church from boyhood. He was married to Miss Addie Washington
December 26, 1872; was married the second time January 17, 1892,
to Miss Mattie Smith of Paducah. They have two children.
He never held any public office before. He will be elected County Assessor next
Tuesday and for the next four years will make the county a faithful officer.
There is no cleverer man than George Derrington.
