A brother and sister, both members of a well known family of this city, died only a few days apart. Mrs. Lula Savannah Polk died at her home here in Harrisburg early Thursday morning, May 2nd, 1957. Her brother, John Warren (Jack) Power (31176335) of Carthage, Indiana died there Tuesday, April 23rd. Another sister, Mrs. Sarah Burdelow (Mrs. Sadie Cole) passed away February 3rd. Mrs. Polk was born in Carthade Indiana, December 17, 1880 (1979?) and was 76. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, John Robert Polk of San Rafael, Calif. a daughter, Mrs. C.W. (Phoebe Jean) Pugh of this city; a sister, Mrs. A.H. Landers of this city and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. A.H. Landers Friday at two o'clock with Rev. J.T. Byrd, Methodist Pastor, assisted by Rev. L.H. Davis, Baptist Pastor, officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery with Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jac Powers, a former resident of this city for many years, was born in Carthade, Ind., May 16, 1872 and was 84 years of age. He was a carpenter, and a member of the Friends Church. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leone Moiser of Carthage, Indiana; a sister, Mrs. A.H. Landers of this city; and two grand children. Funeral rites and burial were held in Carthage, Thursday, April 25th.
