Lillian Katherine Bishop, 89, of Hartsville, Indiana died Saturday, January 24, 2009,, at 6:40 p.m. at her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Bishop was born and raised in Shelby County. She had lived on a farm south of Westport for 58 years before moving to Hartsville in 2007. She was a member of Letts United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and gardening.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastors Tammy and Bill Leak officiating. Calling will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be at Finley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Bartholomew County through the funeral home.

Mrs. Bishop was born October 6, 1919 in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of Alvin and Alma McKee Pope. She married Wilford "Bud" Bishop June 24, 1939 in Greenfield, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (David) Spangler of Hartsville, Indiana; two sons, Tom (Dottie) Bishop of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Terry (Emma) Bishop of North Vernon, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Becky Bishop; a son-in-law, Don Beck; and five brothers, Morris, Charles, Harold, Raymond and Walter Pope.
