Emma Aftel
NORFOLK - Emma Aftel , 92, of 6401 Auburn Drive, died Aug. 20, 2001, in her
residence.
Mrs. Aftel was born in Harrisburg, Pa. She married Samuel Aftel in 1927 and they
resided in Norfolk until his death in 1975. She was a member of Congregation
Beth El for over 60 years, it's Sisterhood and The Hadassah.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Harvey Aftel and his wife Diane of Norfolk; a
daughter, Sonia Sifen and her husband Paul of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at H.D. Oliver Funeral
Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Cantor Jacob Tessler.
Interment will follow at Mikro Kodesh Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of Dr. Harvey Aftel . In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to Beth Sholom Home Of Eastern Virginia or Jewish
Family Services.
