Rosa was the daughter of Carl Christian Jacob Ferdinand Obenland and his wife, Christiana Katharine Goeldenboth. Rosa was born in Maryland on August 19, 1891. She was one of three daughters born to Carl and Christiana. Her sisters' names were Kathrine and Caroline. Rosa also had two brothers who died in infancy.

In 1900, Rosa was living with her aunt, Rosa Goeldenboth Hallwig in Howard County, Maryland.

The 1910 Census lists Rosa living in Lower Gwynedd, Maryland, with her mother and sisters. Mother Christiana was a laundress, as were Rosa and her sister Katharine.

In 1918, Rosa married Louis Franklin Finley. He worked as an iron worker. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Marriage Index lists their marriage certificate #411892 in 1919. However, Louis's WWI registration card lists Rose as his wife. This card was filled out in September, 1918.

Rosa and Louis had one son, Louis Franklin Finley, Jr. He was born on June 20, 1921 in Pennsylvania.

The 1930 Census lists Rosa as married, but the head of the household. Her husband Louis is not listed on the census as living with his family. I found him listed as an inmate at the Eastern State Penitentiary, in Skippack Township, Montgomery, County, Pennsylvania.

Rosa passed away in September, 1968 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She was buried in Hillside Cemetery on September 14, 1968.
