She married Ivey William ("Buck") McAfee, and they both taught school for many years, with Buck also serving as a school principal. They had no children, but were beloved by many generations of their students, and held in high esteem by their nieces and nephews.
When Buck died in 1993, Sue continued to live in their home in Wrens, GA, until her own death at the age of 97.
She was a avid quilter and made dozens of beautiful, hand-sewn quilts. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and gardening, and watching the hummingbirds that were attracted to the many feeders she kept close to the windows of her home.
Susie had four siblings:
Mary Marie Lawson Cobb
Richard Allen 'Curtis' Lawson
Fannie Mae Lawson Futch
Helen Lawson Bundrick
I welcome additional information and/or corrections to this biography of my Aunt Sue.
Many thanks to HOWARD BUROUGH for taking the photos of my Aunt Sue's grave marker!
Many thanks to ELIZABETH, who first listed my Aunt Sue and who graciously transferred her grave to me.
