KEVIN MACKENZIE CASSADY Entered peacefully into rest in San Leandro on August 21, 2005. He was 80 years old. Born in Chicago, IL on January 14, 1925, Kevin was a retired chief right of way agent for the county of Alameda. He had served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. An avid Democrat, Kevin, who was soft spoken, and had a great sense of humor was always devoted to his family. He was the past president and was the current vice president of the Retired Employees of Alameda County. He loved to travel and did so extensively with the Retired Electrical Workers Association. He enjoyed watching sports, and was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He enjoyed visiting Chicago, doing crossword puzzles and was known for giving generously to charities. He will truly be missed. Kevin is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Kathleen and David Pelton of Hayward, Dennis and Jennie Cassady of Texas and Robert and Debby Cassady of Missouri. He also leaves behind his brother, David Cassady of Pinole and sister, Joan Teller of Washington. He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren, Kevin and Caris and his great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Paris. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Kevin was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Shirley Cassady and also his second wife of 10 years, Jean Herleman-Cassady. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Cassady, in 1997 and his sister, Clare El Ton. Visitation for Kevin will be on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the chapel. He will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
