Lewis was born in Kentucky Lewis Tackett the son of Hiram Craig Tackett and Lucinda "Lucy" Shavers. On March 11, 1874 in Johnson County Kentucky he married Lydia Lemaster the daughter of Daniel Phillip Lemaster and Phoebe Bayes. Their children are; John Franklin Tackett, Lucinda Tackett, William Albert Tackett, Sanford B. Tackett, Floyd Thomas Tackett, Charles Green Tackett, Samuel Harrison Tackett, Donald C. Tackett and Hiram Craig Tackett.

A personal visit was made by Sheila Bradley Tackett & Linda Tackett Blanken. Great Great nieces of Lewis Tackett. Lewis Tackett's great grandson, Charlie Hall, was kind enough to guide us to the cemetery located on a very high hill at Rocky Knob.
