CHURCH HILL - Marion Haskell "M H" Quarry, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 7:40 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 1992, at Indian Path Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Rupert, Idaho, he had lived most of his life in Hawkins County. He owned and operated Quarry's Grocery for many years until his retirement.
He was an active member of Amis Chapel United Methodist Church where he was Senior Adult Sunday School teacher and past Sunday School Superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William Haskell "Bud" and Mary Eliza Starnes Quarry; his paternal grandparents, Dr. Augustus William and Susan Davis Quarry; his maternal grandparents, Pleasant Henderson and Mary Jane Starnes; one sister, Stella Mae Farmer; and three brothers, William Henderson, Lee Roy and Little George Henderson Quarry.
Surviving are his wife, Leatrice Genella Carroll Quarry of the home; three children: Brenda (Lowell) Anderson, Roger (Donna) and David (Robin); several grandchildren; one sister, Mary Maxwell Ferrell and one brother, Pleas Augustus Quarry of Baltimore, Maryland.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Amis Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Lane officiating. Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at Amis Chapel Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amis Chapel United Methodist Church in Surgoinsville or the Holston Methodist Children's Home in Greeneville, TN.
