VANDALIA - Harry Thomas Griffith, 77, of 63909 Walnut Road, died
Saturday in his home after a short illness. He was born August 20,
1931, in Jones, MI, the son of the late Harry and Rachel (LeMunyon)
Griffith, and was a lifetime area resident. He married Betty G. Hunt on
May 10, 1958, in Three Rivers, MI, and she died April 19, 2007. He
then married Lois Vanderaa on May 15, 2008, in Cassopolis, and she
survives. He is also survived by six daughters, Carol Young of Jones,
Linda (Dan) Brossman of Vandalia, Barbara (Paul Mrozek of Vandalia, Christenne
(Ken) Hodges of Cassopolis, Rachel (Mike) Russey of Elkhart and Becky (Keith) Beers
of Vandalia; three stepchildren, Cindy Vanderaa of Three Rivers, Ron (Carrie)
Vanderaa of Three Rivers and David (Terri) Vanderaa of Schoolcraft, MI; and
numerous grand, great- grand and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a son-in-law, Clyde Young. He was the owner and operator of Tom's Garage
in Williamsville, MI, was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, was a member of the
Pleasant View Church of Christ, Cassopolis, was a former stock car racer, and liked to
travel and spend time with his family. A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m . in
the Pleasant View Church of Christ, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Settle ,
retired pastor, and Rev. Jeff Oliver, pastor of the church. Interment will be at
Shavehead Cemetery, Porter Twp., Cass Co., MI, at a later date. The family received
friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Military
honors will be given by members of Efton James American Legion Post #206 and
William E. Lozier V.F.W. Post #10704, both of Cassopolis. Memorials may be made to
the American Heart Association or to the family.
