My grandfather: Fred was a printer's apprentice, woodsman, and rail road worker. He was a son of James Benjamin Paul and Anna Elizabeth Williams who left Kansas for a homestead in Columbia Co., Oregon, in the late 1880's. Fred was married on June 5, 1915 in Roseburg, Oregon, to Nora Victoria Morton - born Nora no-middle-name, she liked the name "Victoria" and just took it. After five children, she and Fred divorced - the only mention in her journal, "Fred left today." Nora remarried and moved to Arkansas with her new husband and started another family. Fred stayed single, wandered a bit, and followed various trades and work wherever he found it. Family remember him as quite and soft spoken.
