Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Geyer-Quillin Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Ray Golden, Randy Golden, Floyd Fair, Jerry Pate, Velton Pate and Jack Edward Pate.
Rev. Pate was born March 18, 1889 at Athens and died Feb. 5 at Mena. He grew up in Howard County. He moved to Cove at 31 years of age and spent the remainder of his life there. He began preaching as a Free Holiness minister in 1923. He married Minnie Bell Hood April 23, 1907. She died July 15, 1970.
He is survived by four sons, Delbert of Tacoma, Washington, Raymond of Athens, Kelster of Dierks and Lloyd of Cove. One daughter, Mrs. Nola Fair of Cove, three brothers, Coy of Cove, Lester of Malvern and Loy of Moses Lake, Washington, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Floyce Golden, died on May 9, 1973.
