Services for Mr. Elrey "Charlie" Phaup, age 81, of Flint are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday in the Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James B. Rutledge and Rev. Steve Trammell officiating. Interment will follow in the Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Phaup died Wednesday morning in a Tyler hospital. He was born February 11, 1923 in Ft. Worth and lived the majority of his life in the Mt. Sylvan, Flint, and Tyler area. Mr. Phaup was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Dixie Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He also was a former member and deacon of the Mt. Sylvan Baptist Church. Mr. Phaup was a self-employed businessman and was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Phaup on June 29, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Phaup of Flint; son & daughter-in-law, Charles and Janice Phaup of Tyler; grandson & wife, Tony and Barbara Phaup of Plano; brother & sister-in-law, Gene and Frances Phaup of Chandler; 3 sisters & brothers-in-law, Margaret and Bert Aber of Tyler, Pat and Bob Weatherly of Ft. Worth, and Geraldine Stevenson of Pearland; step-daughter, Shirley Hoffmeyer of Wylie; and step-son, Jerry Gilmore.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Powell, Buford Welmaker, Buster McFadden, Joe Mekalip, Sonny Berry, and Gerald Hollis. Family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
