Kayla Leanne Blair was born September 15, 2006 to Henry Issac and Rachelle Leanne (Griffith) Blair in Bakersfield California, joining her brother, Taylor Issac Blair. Elmo and Minnie Mouse were her favorite characters and she was able to travel to Disneyland to see Minnie.
Kayla also loved the beach and playing in the water. "Our Princess Kayla" was always happy and had a smile even in the face of her extended battle with ATRT cancer. She was "our little hero". Big brother Taylor was always ready to help, sharing his Nintendo DS with Kayla when they had long waiting times during treatments.
Surviving family include her parents, Henry and Rachelle; brother, Taylor; grandparents, Henry & Christina Blair, Sr. of Shafter and Randell and Tamera Griffith of Bakersfield; great-grandpa, Hank Blair and great-grandma, Bess Griffith, both of Shafter; aunts & uncles, Jeff and Erica Hathcock and Nick Blair, all of Shafter, Joe and Briana Schechter, Randell Griffith Jr. and fiancée Talisa, all of Bakersfield; and many other loving family members including great aunt and uncles and cousins.
Our Princess Kayla passed away in the arms of her parents and into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at her home in Bakersfield. A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 13 at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter from 4pm to 8pm. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 16 at Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church, 400 Kern St. followed by a graveside committal at Shafter Memorial Park.
