HAVEN - Josephine Dean Martin Tonn, 83, died Jan. 18, 2010, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born May 5, 1926, in Sylvia, the daughter of George G. and Anna Jeanette Sealy Martin. She attended Sylvia Grade School and graduated from Sylvia High School in 1944. She received her bachelors degree and teaching certificate from Wichita State University in 1972 and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She had taught at Haven High School. Jo loved to read, travel, walk, and being part of a card group for many years. She especially loved spending time with her family.

On Feb. 14, 1950, she married Arthur Tonn at Hutchinson. He died on Nov. 19, 2000. Survivors include: two daughters, Lisa Boyd, Victoria, and Alice Salter, Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Paul, three brothers, John, Gorge (Buck), and William, and seven sisters, Mabel Forrest, Mildred Wray, Helen Cox, Anna Ellis, Maxiene Walters, Lorena Wray, and Lucille Martin.

Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Haven, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m., Thursday at Haven United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Susan Wickiser officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ott Funeral Home, Haven.

Memorials may be made to Haven Public Library, Haven United Methodist Church, or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven, in care of the funeral home.
